Local transport schemes

Local transport schemes

We plan and design transport engineering solutions to assist public and private sector clients deliver their objectives.

We have the experts to:

  • prepare transport assessments and travel plans
  • plan transport for regeneration and masterplanning
  • improve access and accessibility
  • undertake transport engineering and management research
  • assist develop local transport spending plans and development frameworks
  • design solutions

How will the local transport networks be maintained or improved in the short to medium term? Assisting a Local Authority or their partners to deliver their transport related obligations: usually within the context of the regional or area strategy.
How will the local transport networks be maintained or improved in the short to medium term? Development of tactical traffic management and integrated corridor improvements aimed at improving the efficiency of transport networks through the design, modelling and testing of traffic signal, road and junction layouts. Balances the needs of all road users including pedestrians, cyclists, public transport vehicles and freight traffic.
What transport improvements are appropriate to enable a transport scheme or development to take place without creating undue pressure on the local transport networks and increases economic value? Analysing impacts of specific transport schemes (e.g. bus priority; traffic management;) and development proposals and identifying appropriate interventions and changes either where the primary aim is to secure planning consent or approval of the scheme - predominantly from the perspective of a Local Authority.
How can the street scene be improved for the benefit of the pedestrians and vulnerable road users? Identifying the changes and interventions would improve the the look and feel of a place and space - usually in favour of pedestrians and vulnerable road users (e.g. cyclists, wheel chair users, sight impaired etc).
For this workplace/location etc, what are the most cost-effective things we can do to get people to change their behaviour in the way we want? Assisting in the development and implementation of policies to encourage changes in travel behaviour, typically towards sustainable or low carbon transport modes or through new ways of working.
What transport improvements are appropriate to enable a development to take place without creating undue pressure on the local transport networks? Analysis of the impacts of specific development proposals and identify appropriate mitigation measures (in terms of transport and master planning) where the primary aim is to secure planning consent.
How can one operate road networks efficiently and safely as possible? Defining the scope, scale and form of traffic flows - in road networks including junctions, interchanges, from a few streets to entire towns  - under a range of operational conditions to ensure that scheme designs are 'Fit for Purpose'.
